The date Deglet Nour conditioned:

- This is a date that has been dried for conservation purposes.
- Before putting it back into the commercial circuit, it is rehydrated with water vapor to regain some softness.
- It is usually pitted to go into the processing circuit (square to dates, muffins, etc.)
- In Quebec and North America, the packaged Deglet date is presented as a natural date and sold at retail for wide consumption because it is easier to store at room temperature.

The flesh of this date is translucent and leaves itself pierced by the light at the point where you can see the core inside. Hence the poetic name...
