This ancient variety is a cross between romaine and butter lettuce. Its small firm apple, 20 cm high, composed of dark green leaves, erect, fleshy and crunchy, holds more than romaine lettuce, but the blistering texture and the almost sweet creamy flavor of the leaves are similar to butter lettuce.

Sucrine is refreshing and rich in potassium, magnesium, calcium and vitamins.

It is particularly delicious as a starter with fresh cheese, but also in sandwiches or salads. Although the habit of cooking lettuce has been lost over the centuries, this variety lends itself well to such a preparation, for example braised in chicken broth with shallots or pie!
